• New figures for waiting times
  The following statistics have been released by the Department of Health: NHS inpatient and outpatient waiting times figures
• Simple phone launched at Care Show
  The Simplaphone – a new concept for the older community using Touch Talk was launched at the recent Care Show. This is the first home phone with a 7” touch screen that allows the user to dial by photo and see who is calling just by a touch of the screen.
• New research highlights pain issue
  Hospitals and healthcare providers who leave older people languishing in pain should be penalised, according to three fifths (62 per cent) of GB adults. The new research launched by Help the Aged, also found nearly half the adult population (47 per cent) are not confident that health professionals can alleviate pain in older people effectively.
• Sight centres announced
  Nine treatment centres will be established across Wales to help ensure faster, fairer treatment for patients at risk of losing their sight, Health Minister Edwina Hart has announced.
